When Healing Is Not Healing
Healing is not linear. No one is 100% healed. We go backward and forward, and sometimes we're all over the place because that's the process. This journey is different for everyone. We've all been hit in different ways, we're moving at our own pace and we require different amounts of time to heal.
There are going to be days where you wake up and you feel happy and alive. And there are also going to be days where it feels like everything seems to be upside down, where the hurt resurfaces, where your chest tightens, and your heart starts to ache. There will be a day when the simple tasks don't feel simple. This can be hard to sit with and can make you question your healing.
But the truth is, that healing happens in waves. It is a process and a lifelong journey. Slowly, we learn how to approach the bad days, we learn how to control the way things affect us, and we learn how to accept our feelings.
Every single day has a sunrise and a sunset. Has the light and dark. Similarly, your life might go through a period of light and darkness. You won't feel this way forever. There will be a new beginning and a new and stronger you to face the world.
And when the hard day arrives, give your body and mind rest. If you just can't do it today, that's okay. You have tomorrow. Take the time you need to rest, find inspiration, and remember all the little things that make you happy. Normalize accepting this and stop forcing yourself to "just get through it" when you know deep down your mind needs a break.
Sometimes, healing consists of laying in your bed all day or writing what you're feeling. Sometimes healing is laughing. Cry if you want to, it's a part of the healing. Whatever your healing looks like today, whatever it consists of, just allow it to be what it is.
Remember that healing yourself will ask:
MORE OF YOU
MORE REST
MORE LETTING GO
MORE SELF LOVE
MORE PATIENCE
MORE HONEST ABOUT HOW YOU FEEL
MORE FAITH IN YOURSELF AND THE PROCESS
Healing doesn't mean the damage never existed. It means the damage no longer controls our lives
Sending y'all so much love and strength ❤
